If available, you may be able to replace EoC connected T1 solutions or DS3 circuits for significant savings.

Demand for greater bandwidth is increasing. Fortunately, private fiber optic lines are cheaper than in previous years. There are two interesting technologies, although they may not make much of a difference to the performance you choose. SONET is an older telecommunications standard with services such as OC3, OC12 and OC48 offering different bandwidth options. Fiber Ethernet is a technological upgrade from SONET. It offers easy scalability from 10 Mbit/s to 10 Gbit/s or more and is generally a more cost-effective solution.

Virtual Private Path
The Internet offers an inexpensive solution to connecting multiple sites, but it is neither private nor private. The attractive value comes from the fact that it is a shared resource with universal connectivity available almost anywhere in the world. There is little you can do to share bandwidth without allocating it for your own use, which can affect your application's performance.
